Killhope Lead Mining Museum

  • Killhope - visit the award winning Killhope Lead Mining Museum shop and café. Take  a guided tour deep underground and learn how the lead was mined, processed and transported.
  • Ireshopeburn - The Weardale Museum and High House Chapel, the worlds oldest Methodist Chapel still in continuous weekly use. Wesley preached here and the adjoining small folk museum includes a Wesley room, local history and mineral displays as well as family history research.
  • Stanhope - the "gateway" to Weardale, visit the Durham Dales Centre for information on local events, craft shopping and a coffee break.
  • Auckland Castle and Park - historic residence of the Prince Bishops of Durham and home to the world famous Zurbaran paintings.
