- Killhope - visit the award winning Killhope Lead Mining Museum shop and café. Take a guided tour deep underground and learn how the lead was mined, processed and transported.
- Ireshopeburn - The Weardale Museum and High House Chapel, the worlds oldest Methodist Chapel still in continuous weekly use. Wesley preached here and the adjoining small folk museum includes a Wesley room, local history and mineral displays as well as family history research.
- Stanhope - the "gateway" to Weardale, visit the Durham Dales Centre for information on local events, craft shopping and a coffee break.
- Auckland Castle and Park - historic residence of the Prince Bishops of Durham and home to the world famous Zurbaran paintings.
- Hamsterley Forest 200 hectares of forest adventure or a tranquil getaway.
- Durham City - the small, historic and beautiful university city of Durham has a castle, shops and a famous Cathedral
- Hexham - a market town with an Abbey dating from 674AD and a market held in its shadow every Tuesday
- Alston - the highest market town in England and the start of the South Tyne Railway
